Mathematica: How to Request a Home-Use License

Mathematica Available for Students and Faculty

Normandale Community College provides a license to applicable students in Engineering, Algebra, Calculus, Computing, and Physics courses, to install on their own personal devices. You will need to request a new home-use license or an upgrade for an existing home-use license. Your instructor will let you know if you need to use it for your class. Faculty can also request access for themselves. You must use your Normandale email or the software access will not be approved.

What is Mathematica?

Mathematica is a symbolic mathematical computation program, sometimes called a computer algebra program, used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields. It was conceived by Stephen Wolfram and is developed by Wolfram Research of Champaign, Illinois.​​​​​​ Normandale Community College offers a limited set of licenses to students and faculty for free.

How do I request a new home-use license of Mathematica at Normandale Community College?

Mathematica is available for students and faculty to download for use on their personal computing devices.

1.  Please visit:   http://www.wolfram.com/siteinfo/homeuse/ 

2. Please enter the Main Site License Number:    L2817-2028

3. Select the home-use license that you are requesting: 

If you wish a new home-use license choose the Radio button “A new home-use license”.  

If you are at an earlier version of Mathematica and you want to upgrade to a current version, please choose “An upgrade for an existing home-use license”. 

If you are at current version and require a new password valid for the next year, and your site has renewed, please choose “A password extension for an existing home use license”.

4.  Click Continue.

 

5.  Please choose how you want Mathematica delivered to you.

 

6. Please Read and agree to the User Agreement and click Continue.

7.   Please enter your personal contact information and click Submit.  The request will be forwarded to Normandale Community College site Administrator for approval.  Please make sure you use your institutionally issued e-mail address (your Normandale address).

Your request will be forwarded to the Normandale Site Administrator for approval. If approved, your license will be sent to you at the email address above. Please be sure to use your Normandale email address. Once you receive your approval email, you can download and install Mathematica on your personal computer.
