All admitted Students will have access to their Normandale email and Office 365 apps for 2 years after their last day of enrollment.
All visiting Students will have access to their Normandale email and Office 365 apps for 1 year after their last day of enrollment.
If you are interested in retaining all of your Normandale emails, you can export your Normandale emails via Outlook to your personal Gmail account, so that you can keep the emails indefinitely in your personal email.
Basically, there are 4 steps involved: 1) installing Outlook desktop client onto your Windows computer, 2) exporting the Normandale emails into a .PST file via Outlook, 3) installing the Google Outlook migration tool onto your computer, and 4) Importing the .PST file (Normandale Outlook emails) into your personal Gmail account.
Please follow the detailed instructions step-by-step below:
1. Install Outlook desktop client on to your Windows computer
1a. Sign into https://www.office.com/ using your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and StarID password.
1b. Click on the "Install Office" button and select Office 365 apps.
If asked, click Save File, then run the file.
Clean Yes to start installing.
Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Office is installed now". Select Close.
1c. Click on Start, type Outlook, and click on Outlook to open.
1d. ACTIVATION: the first time you start an office app, choose to login and login with your Office 365 credentials:
Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
Employees: StarID@minnstate.edu
Password: your StarID password
Office is activated and ready to use.

After installation, open the Outlook desktop client software on your computer and sign in with your StarID@go.minnstate.edu account you use for Office 365.
2. Next, configure Outlook and export Normandale emails as .pst file (Outlook data file).
2a. Open Outlook and Sign in with your StarID@go.minnstate.edu
2b. Click on File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Export to a file and Click Next.
2c. Click on Outlook Data File (.pst) so it's selected, then click Next
Your Inbox will be highlighted; and make sure that Include Subfolders is checked (if you want everything included)
2d. Click Next
2e. Click on Browse, and save your backup.pst file onto your Desktop (so that it's easy to find), click OK
2f. Click Finish
>> On the Add optional password window, leave the password fields blank, and click OK.
All your Outlook email will then be processed into the export file.
Depending on how many emails you have and how large they are, this may take a few minutes to complete.
3. Download and install Google outlook migration tool on to your Windows computer:
3a. Download .EXE File for Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft® Outlook® - Google
from Download install site: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gsmmo#
3b. Open and install the Outlookmigration.exe file
4. Use Google Workspace migration tool to import Outlook emails
4a. Open Google Workspace migration tool, enter your Gmail email addres, click on Continue
4b. Click on your Gmail account that you want to import your old emails
4c. Log into Gmail (and enter a verification code if prompted)
4d. On the next window, at the bottom of the page, click on Allow
4e. Under Select a MS Outlook user profile or PST files to migrate, Click on the Cascading options and choose From PST files..
4f. Navigate to your Desktop and select the backup.pst file, then click open, so it's selected.
4g. Click on Migrate all data, then click on Next
4h. Select all the data that you wish to migrate (check all boxes that you want), then click Migrate
Depending on how many emails you have and how large they are, this may take a 10-30 minutes to complete.
A Migration Status bar will show the progression of the those processed.
