Change your MFA Settings

You can manage your multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods on the Microsoft Security Info page.

OPEN SECURITY INFO

  1. Go to Security Info.
  2. Sign in with your StarID email and password.

The page lists every MFA method on your account.

CHANGE YOUR DEFAULT METHOD

  1. Next to Default sign-in method, select Change.
  2. Choose the method you want to use first.
  3. Select Confirm.

ADD A METHOD

Select Add sign-in method and choose the method you want to add. For full setup steps, see:

Keep at least two methods on your account so you can still sign in if you lose your phone.

REMOVE TEXT AND PHONE CALL METHODS

Text message and phone call MFA stop working on February 1, 2027. Once you have added a supported method and signed in with it, remove the old ones:

  1. Find any entry labeled Phone, Alternate phone, or Office phone.
  2. Select Delete, then OK.

See MFA changes and supported authentication options for key dates.

LOST OR REPLACED YOUR PHONE?

If you have a backup method, sign in to Security Info, add your new device, and delete the old one. If you have no backup method, contact the Service Desk to reset your MFA.
