Create a fillable PDF from a Word document
This process makes it easy to share documents that users can download and fill out with information needed for various projects, assignments, or information sharing.
Once you have created a Word document, follow the steps below to convert it to a fillable PDF.
First, Install "Adobe CC" from Normandale's "Software Center"
- From a Normandale Windows machine, find the Windows icon in the lower left corner
- Select Microsoft Configuration Manager
- Select Software Center
- Search for "Adobe CC"
- Install it onto your machine
Next, use the Adobe CC software to add fields to your document
- From the "Categories" menu, select "Acrobat and PDF," and select "Open"
- Select "Create PDF"
- Browse your files and upload your Word document
- Select "Create"
- From the left-hand side, select "Prepare Form" (note: you may need to use the Search field for "Prepare Form")
- Click "Start"
- Use the "Add a text field" icon to begin adding a fillable field.
- Continue until you've added all your fillable options
- Use the "File" menu to save your PDF in a safe location
