D2L Activity Feed

At Normandale, instructors may request the “Activity Feed” widget to be placed on individual course pages. This request would need to be made for each course in which the widget is desired, each term.

Placement

The Activity Feed widget would appear just below the “Announcements” widget on the course homepage.

Two types of Activity Feed posts:

  1. Message

  1. Assignment

 1 message and 2 assignment

Two main purposes of the Activity Feed:

  1. One purpose to is allow instructors to customize an informal communication with students, that functions similarly to a social media feed for more informal conversations, or just-in-time shares

    • Example of an informal post, such as an introduction:

    • Example of a just-in-time post:

  1. Another purpose is to provide students a more direct path to “Assignments” in the class.

  • “Assignments” can be inserted directly into the Activity Feed on the Course homepage.

  • NOTE: If an Assignment Activity Feed post is deleted, the Assignment will ALSO be deleted from the Assessments > Assignments menu.
