On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, The "Request Help" widget will move to the TOP of D2L Course Pages
What is the D2L Request Help widget?
- The Request Help widget was installed on INSTRUCTOR ONLY D2L pages a few years ago, in the lower-right corner of the page.
- The widget allows instructors to search for D2L help articles, contact the IT Helpdesk, or create a DEV (Development) course.
- The screenshot below shows what the widget looks like, and the arrows point out three of the widget's main features.
Summary of this change:
- On May 16th, 2024, the widget will move to the TOP RIGHT corner of D2L homepages.
- This change was recommended by the Normandale Campus Academic Technology Team.
- Watch this 3-minute video for more info, and/or refer to the information below.
Why is this change needed?
- The Request Help widget causes confusion because it requires a login that sometimes disrupts navigation of the homepage by "jumping" the user to the bottom of the page.
- The widget is not very visible at the bottom of the page, and therefore not used by instructors who could find it very helpful.
Can I "Collapse" the widget if I don't need it?
Yes! You can use the widget's drop-down arrow to Collapse it, and create more room on your homepage.
