Accessibility+ in D2L
Beginning January 31, 2026 initial functions of Accessibility+ will begin rolling out in Brightspace for courses in Summer 2026 and beyond.
For courses in Summer 2026 and beyond, faculty will be able to review automated accessibility audit reports for items included in the Brightspace Content area. Throughout the spring semester, additional Accessibility+ features, such as file remediation support and alternate content formats, will be introduced.
As Accessibility+ is introduced, we want to share a few important notes to help set expectations:
-
Initial functionality will be limited to basic accessibility audit reports.
-
These reports will identify accessibility issues and provide guidance on how to address them; however, AutoFix and Alternate Formats will not be available until a later phase.
-
To minimize disruption for courses already in progress, Accessibility+ will only appear in courses beginning Summer 2026 and will not be enabled in earlier terms.
-
Additional accessibility training, resources, and documentation are coming. System Office and Normandale’s CTL, OSD, and IT teams will offer more training opportunities this semester, with additional how-to guides and online resources rolling out as they are developed by the Accessibility Workgroup.
