What is the College Level Examination Program (CLEP)?

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a national testing program that allows students to earn college credit by demonstrating their knowledge in specific subject areas. Instead of taking a traditional class, you can take a CLEP exam, and if you earn a qualifying score, colleges and universities that recognize CLEP may grant you credit toward your degree.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Many institutions—including Normandale—accept CLEP, but how the credits apply depends on your specific degree and the school you are attending. To see how CLEP credits may fit into your Normandale program or another school's program, use Transferology

  • Submitting Scores: Make sure to send your official CLEP transcript to Normandale so the credits can be applied. You will send those to records@normandale.edu

It is also good to connect with your academic advisor to talk over this option. To contact your advisor and set up an appointment, go to the Advising, Counseling and Career Center website (click here), email: advising@normandale.edu, or call 952-358-8261.

If you have additional questions, please reach out to Student Services via email or live chat.
