What is the difference between Audit and Letter Grade?

Any class offered at Normandale can be taken for Audit or Letter Grade. Students may change to a different grade method at the time they register, or they may change it at a later date (up until the course withdrawal deadline, at which time you can only do so with instructor permission).

What is the difference:

  • Audit: Students will not be given academic credit or grades for this course. This means if students need this course to graduate at Normandale or for a requirement at the transfer school, students should not select this for their grading method

  • Letter Grade: Students will be given academic credit, grades, and this course will count towards their GPA. As long as the course is 1000 level or higher, this will also count toward credit completion.

Students are encouraged to discuss the audit grading method with their academic advisor before selecting this, to confirm that it is the correct option. To set up an appointment, go to the Advising, Counseling and Career Center website (click here), email: advising@normandale.edu, or call 952-358-8261
