What is the Registration Process for Senior Citizens?
Minnesota residents age 62 or older by the first day of the semester may be eligible to take courses at a reduced tuition rate. Senior citizens follow a different registration process than general students. Here's how to get started:
1. Apply to Normandale
Complete the free online application. You only need to do this once.
-
If you are not seeking a degree or certificate (for example, you want to audit classes), apply as a non-degree-seeking student.
-
If you are working toward a degree or certificate, apply as a degree-seeking student.
Application Deadlines:
Fall 2025: August 13, 2025
Spring 2026: December 29, 2025
If you're applying after the deadline, enter the promo code SENIOR at the end of your application so we can assist you through the enrollment process.
2. Submit the Senior Citizen Registration Form
Once you receive your acceptance email and Normandale Student ID number, complete the registration form . On the form, indicate:
You’ll receive a confirmation email after we receive your form.
3. Wait for Registration on the First Day of Class
To receive the reduced senior tuition rate, do not register yourself. Our Records team will register you for your requested course(s) on the first day of the semester, if space is available.
Registering yourself before that time will result in full tuition charges.
4. Pay Your Balance
Once your registration is processed, allow 1–2 business days for your tuition and fees to update in eServices. Be sure to check for:
-
Campus access, parking, and security fees
-
Special course fees (e.g., music lessons)
-
The cost of textbooks and supplies
