What is the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC)?

Minnesota public colleges and universities work together to make transferring between schools as easy as possible. To do this, we use a program called the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC).

Key things to know:

  • Purpose: The MnTC is designed to ensure high-quality general education and smooth progress toward a bachelor’s degree, no matter where you begin your education in Minnesota.

  • Goal Areas: It consists of ten goal areas focused on core liberal arts and sciences competencies. Completing all goal areas fulfills the first two years of general education at any Minnesota public college or university.

  • AA Degree Connection: The MnTC is closely tied to the Associate of Arts (AA) degree, which includes the full MnTC package.

  • Private Colleges: Some private colleges and universities in Minnesota may also accept the MnTC to complete the liberal education requirement, but not all—so check with your intended transfer school.

  • Tracking Progress: You can track your progress toward completing MnTC goals by viewing your Degree Audit Report (DARS) in eServices:

  • Log in to eServices

  • Click Academic Records

  • Click Degree Audit Report

Because this process can be confusing, students are encouraged to contact their advisor and can set up an appointment by going to the Advising, Counseling and Career Center website (click here), email: advising@normandale.edu, or call 952-358-8261. Getting help early can save you time and money

If you have additional questions, please reach out the Advising, Counseling & Career Center via email or live chat.
