IT-related URL hyperlinks may need to be updated by October 21, 2026 or links will not work

What is happening?

This information is related to the change made in the summer of 2025 when IT expanded TDX (our IT ticketing system) to support additional campus services as part of the Workday HR/Finance rollout. At that time, the TDX URL address was changed from it.normandale.edu to services.normandale.edu. Updates have already been happening for main sites including D2L, web pages, Exchange, etc.

Examples of IT-related hyperlinks may include:

  1. A link to the IT portal/helpdesk
  2. A link to a Knowledge Base article for student technology or D2L support

Since the summer of 2025, IT-related hyperlinks have been re-directed to the updated address; this redirection is expiring on Oct. 21st, 2026.

What do I need to do?

  1. Check the underlying URL address of all hyperlinks in your courses, documents, or webpages that route to IT-related websites.
  2. If needed, URL addresses will need to be manually changed from it.normandale.edu to services.normandale.edu.

How do I manually update my hyperlinks?

Look at your URL address path.  If it shows it.normandale.edu, go into the address, manually delete "it" and type in "services." Test the hyperlink.

tip

It's best if you can navigate to the current webpage where the hyperlink needs to go, and copy the new URL address. Then, paste the correct URL address into the hyperlink field.

Refer to the examples below of how to check and edit IT-related URL addresses.

Example 1: Hyperlinks in a D2L "Page"

OLD VIEW: The screenshot below shows the words "it.normandale.edu" at the beginning of the URL address, which will be broken on Oct. 21st.

Example 2: Hyperlinks in a Word document

  1. Hover your mouse to check the address to see if it needs to be updated.
  2. Right-click the URL address in Word document. Select "Edit hyperlink."
  3. Replace "it" with "services".
  4. Open the link to make sure it works.
  5. Watch this short video for a demonstration of the steps above.

What will happen if I don't manually update my hyperlinks?

If your IT-related hyperlinks still route to "it.normandale.edu," they will not work as of October 21, 2026. You will need to manually update your hyperlinks.
