Microsoft Copilot for Students

Note: Before using Microsoft Copilot for coursework, students must check with the instructor's course guidelines about the use of generative AI.

Keep in mind:

  • Each instructor determines whether Generative AI use is allowed, limited, or restricted in their course.

  • Any unauthorized use of Generative AI will face the same penalties as other types of academic dishonesty as stated in the Normandale Code of Conduct

Steps for students:

  1. Refer to your instructor’s guidelines for the course.

If an instructor has not clearly shared their Generative AI policy in their syllabus, in their assignments, or in other coursework, talk with the instructor before using Microsoft Copilot, Grammarly, or another Generative AI tool (including translation apps) for any coursework.

  1. IF your instructor permits you to use Generative AI for any reason, review the facts listed below:

    1. You are responsible for all content (ideas, facts, citations).

    2. You are taking full responsibility for AI-generated materials as if you had produced them yourself: give credit for ideas, and make sure facts are correct. Ask your instructor for citation guidance, or refer to the links below:

      1. MLA Guide: https://www.normandale.edu/library/ai-mla

      2. APA Guide: https://www.normandale.edu/library/ai-apa
