New Students: Get Started

StarID

Your StarID is the username that will be used across the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to access systems and services including e-services, D2L, campus computers, and wireless. Your StarID password expires every 180 days. 

Note: It is important that you update your StarID Notification Email to your personal email address since any communications about your StarID, such as password change reminders, will be sent to your StarID Notification Email address. To do this, click "Manage Profile" on the StarID website.

E-Services

E-Services is the Minnesota State website used to register for classes, check your grades, etc.

• To login, use your StarID and password
• To reset your password, please go to the StarID Self Service page.

Student Email

Normandale uses email as the primary means of communication with students. All students are required to log in to their student email account. Students at Normandale should check their email often for correspondence from Normandale representatives; alternatively, you may forward your student email to your personal email address.

To check your email, please go to the Normandale website and click on the Menu icon (3 bar-icon in the upper right), then "Current Students," and then the Email icon.

Student email login:

• Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
• Password: your StarID password

First Time Office 365 Email Login

​​​​The first time you log in, you will need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This is important, because it helps protect your Office 365 email account to keep it safe. If you see the message "More information required" when you log in, you will need to set up MFA.

D2L Brightspace

D2L Brightspace is the Normandale online learning system that is used for your courses.

• To login, use your StarID and password.

Campus Computers/Wireless

• You can log in to campus computers using your StarID and password.
• Connect to Wireless/WiFi

Software Applications

If you are using special software application for your course, or are accessing a special website, please see the Student Software list. If your software is not listed, please contact your instructor for access assistance.
