I can't reset my StarID password

If you have trouble resetting your password, it may be because there is personal information that is missing or incorrect. When you go to StarID Self Service and click on Reset Password, you have the following options:

  • I know my TechID - requires Normandale TechID and your Social Security Number
  • I know my email address - requires your personal email address to be in your record
  • I have a verification code - requires you to obtain a verification code from ITS. A valid ID is required, so this is done in person.
  • I have my library card - requires library bar code and your Social Security Number
  • I know my State ID - employees only

If you did not provide a social security number or personal email address on your application, you will not be able to reset your StarID password using the Reset Password option. You have the following options:

  • Update your information: Fill out the Change of Information form located on the Records & Registration website. Submit the form electronically or in person, along with the required documentation.
  • Obtain a verification code: come to the ITS Help Desk in L1701. You will need to present a valid picture ID to receive a verification code. NOTE: This option is currently not available as Walk-Ups are closed due to Covid-19.
  • Sign in to Profile: you may be able to go to the StarID Self Service site and go to Sign in to Profile if your password still works. From there you can reset it. It is recommended that you provide additional information through Records & Registration to prevent issues in the future.
