Fall 2026: How to Request to Merge or Unmerge Courses in D2L Brightspace?

Please read carefully for the submission process and deadline date. 

Deadline for requests: August 7, 2026 

Requests to merge or unmerge Fall courses will be accepted no later than Friday, August 7th. After August 7, 2026, requests involving course and instructor changes must be approved by the dean.

If you request to add courses to already merged courses, you could lose course content.  It is the instructor’s responsibility to save course content by making a Development Course and copy the course content before you send an IT ticket.

What information will I need? 

The D2L Merge or Unmerged Course Request Form will guide you through the information needed to complete your request. 

  • You will need to supply your department (e.g. MATH), your course number, and any applicable section numbers. 

  • Your request will be delayed if the information on the form is not completely and accurately filled out within the Form. 

  • Note: Merge requests should only include courses with the same delivery method.  If you would like guidance on merging courses with unlike delivery methods, please reach out to your academic dean or review this webpage. Criteria for merging course sections in D2L
