Service Description
The mission of the IT Project Management Office (PMO) is to establish and support a common project management framework that is based on proven project management concepts and techniques. The PMO provides a consistent and comprehensible approach to managing IT projects resulting in greater efficiency and project success. The PMO serves to enhance the ability of the IT department to consistently deliver successful, quality solutions and services to faculty, staff and students of Normandale Community College.
In support of this mission, the IT Project Management Office will:
- Size projects in accordance with college strategic priorities
- Prioritize projects based on:
- Value to the college
- Value to the customer
- Project readiness
- Technology system risk
- Provide leadership and coordination of technology projects
- Manage approved 'Operational' and 'Institutional' projects
- Develop and continually enhance project management guidelines and tools
- Educate and engage stakeholders throughout the college on the use of project management best practices
Standard Features
Professional project management support and service to campus departments for governance, initiation, planning, and delivery of IT enterprise systems and services that support Normandale's strategic plan. Features include:

Roles and Responsibilities
Requestor Responbilities:
The requestor is responsible for providing the following information:
- Project purpose
- anticipated impact
- strategic alignment
- desired start/end
- department
- project sponsor
Note: submission of a project request does not guarantee project approval. Governance process consists of review and evaluation.
