Minnesota State is implementing Identity 3.0 (IAM 3.0), a modernization of the identity and account management system used throughout Minnesota State colleges and universities. Identity 3.0 will replace the current Enterprise Identity Management system and improve how accounts are managed across campus and enterprise systems.
Upcoming Sign-In Changes
Beginning the week of October 12, 2026, Minnesota State will begin updating the sign-in experience to improve security and simplify account management. Most users will not need to take immediate action.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
STUDENTS
Students will experience changes to how they access certain campus resources after migration.
FACULTY AND STAFF
Employees will continue using their existing login credentials and should experience minimal changes.
EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ALSO STUDENTS
Individuals who have both employee and student roles will have separate accounts for work-related and student-related activities after migration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my password change?
No. Current passwords are expected to continue working after migration.
Will my Microsoft 365 login change?
Microsoft 365 access is not expected to change.
Will I need to create a new account?
No. Existing accounts will remain in place. Some users may receive updated login instructions depending on their role.
Will my employee sign-in change?
Employees will continue signing in as they do today.
What if I am both an employee and a student?
Use the employee account for work activities and the student account for student activities.
Do I need to change anything now?
No. Follow the instructions provided when the new sign-in experience reaches a system you use.
