Identity 3.0 and sign-in changes

Minnesota State is implementing Identity 3.0 (IAM 3.0), a modernization of the identity and account management system used throughout Minnesota State colleges and universities. Identity 3.0 will replace the current Enterprise Identity Management system and improve how accounts are managed across campus and enterprise systems. Most employees should experience little or no change to their login experience. Students and employee-students may see changes to some login processes after migration.

MFA changes and supported authentication options

Microsoft is retiring SMS text messages and phone calls as authentication methods on February 1, 2027. Users who rely on these methods will need to move to a supported authentication option.

New StarID Password Requirements

Minnesota State is updating StarID password requirements to strengthen account security and align with current password practices.
